Chapter 143
And all Yanks everywhere could always just forget about everything and watch ptelevision,
Which was all about how great it was to be a Yank,
Because on TV, qall Yank dads were wise and wonderful,
rAnd all Yank moms were warm and beautiful,
sAnd all Yank kids were smart and helpful,
tAnd all Yank heroes were brave and handsome and noble,
uWhether they were TV cowboys,
vOr TV policemen,
wOr TV private eyes,
xOr TV lawyers,
yOr TV doctors,
zOr even TV gamblers.
And that’s not all,
Because TV also showed the Yanks the best way to live,
Meaning the Yank way,
aWhere everybody owned the same spotlessly clean two-story house on the same perfectly clean, tree-lined street in the suburbs,
bAnd drove the same enormous station wagon with fake wood on the sides,
cAnd smiled the same bright cheerful smile all the time,
dAnd always solved all their problems right before the last commercial,
eWhich proved just how great it was to be a Yank,
Living in the land of the Yanks.
