10And pretend you’re outwitting death.

12To hide from all your nightmares,
13And just hope against hope that they don’t come true,
14While the dreams you could dream are fading away.

16To lie in the dark and pretend it’s a joke,
17Because you didn’t make the rules.
18We don’t believe it makes any sense,
19To libel our race anymore:
20We sought for power and we got it;
21Now let’s learn how to use it and live.
22And we don’t believe it makes any sense,
23To scavenge the past for reasons to quit:
24We made our own bed with capable hands;
25Now let’s get out from under the covers,
26And go forth with pride and courage,
27To meet a brand-new day.
