WAYS Chapter 32

The Boomer Way
Chapter 32
Some years ago,
Some youngsters thought they’d take a hand,
And try a new production.
They talked a lot about making a stand,
And setting things right again.
The time was ripe:
The plots were old,
The script was tripe,
The stars were past their prime,
And no one had registered a meaningful gripe,
In almost fifty years.
But if you’re planning revolution,
You’ve got to give it some thought,
And know what it is you intend to build,
After you’ve bulldozed the lot.
But thinking was too hard to do,
And learning was out of the question.
So they knocked it all down in a fit of pique,
And then quit just as if they’d lost.
But maybe they’d won what they really sought,
A note from their mother that said they had tried,
And were free for the rest of their lives,
To let it all slide,
And take what they wanted,
Now that the builders had died.
So at present they live off the fat of a land,
Which fades more than a little each day,
Sapped by the indolent, selfish hordes,
Who plighted their troth to the Boomer Way.
