WAYS
The Way of the BeaksThe Way of the Nips
Chapter 20
The way of the Russkies is winter,
A blanketing sensuous ssnow,
Enfolding its people in sorrow,
For the leaves that can’t learn to grow.
tYou can hear the snow in their music,
And the wolves that run down the sleigh,
The enemy ulonging to fade into sleep,
And the vmemories that death could erase.
But the earth under cover is fertile,
And wseeds lie deep in the ice,
Still dreaming of trees xoverarching,
The chasms of misery beneath.
And death is not their master,
aDespite his blizzard reign,
bFor they remember the earth of their home,
cAnd they breathe through all the pain,
Living for children yet to come,
Who will learn, and grow, and remain.
