WAYS
The Barbarian WayThe Way of the Giants
Chapter 15
And then there were the Bubonites,
Whose way was the hardest of all.
They died by the amillions,
Without a clue,
Because their bnumber was finally up.
No matter how hard they searched for the reason,
No matter how hard they prayed for salvation,
They died in the darkness of random disaster,
Without ever breaking the faceless code,
Of the virus that cmocked their absent savior.
And so you conclude that their faith was in error,
And long overdue for replacement with dscience,
Which lets us live longer, and longer, and longer,
For no higher price than demoting a God,
eWho breathes death and destruction in every prayer,
And swaddles the world in fignorant fear.
But what about the Bubonites,
Who kept right on believing,
And gsearched for new life in the midst of the slaughter,
Because of their faith in hjudgment hereafter?
Who refused to surrender to damn-it-all pleasure,
And labored to frame new iquestions and answers,
In the hope of regaining the love of their jmaster?
You’d set them straight if you were there,
With your love of kgerms and lsterile water,
But would a plague in your world of chance,
Give rise to a brilliant mRenaissance?
