Chapter 24
aThen, finally, everybody was completely confused,
2bAnd the barbarians were acting like they owned the place,
3cAnd the Romans were learning a lot every day about sin and guilt and suffering,
4dAnd the priests were smiling more and more,
5eBecause the barbarians were starting to ask questions about Christianity,
6fAnd were obviously going to need a lot of help before they got it right,
7And the emperor was thinking that life might be easier if the capital of Rome weren’t Rome,
8But some other place,
9Maybe farther east,
10Where there weren’t quite so many pushy barbarians,
11gAnd so they closed Rome,
12hAnd the emperor moved to a new city,
13Named after himself,
14And the iRomans stopped being Romans,
15And stopped being Chosen,
16And became jItalians instead,
17Which is another story altogether,
18But equally funny in its own right.
