I’m not saying I never made any mistakes,
2Because I know I did,
3And there were times when I didn’t pay enough attention,
4cAnd didn’t jerk them up short when they needed it,
5Because I thought they’d grow out of it or something,
6Which they never did,
7And I know for a fact,
8Or at least I think I do,
9dThat I gave them too much freedom,
10Which isn’t quite the same thing as liberty,
11As my father used to say,
12But he was probably wrong too,
13Because he taught me a lot of things,
14Things that just ain’t so,
15I guess.
