And it’s a funny thing, but I didn’t think about Lincoln for years,
2Maybe because it’s harder to think about great men as you get older,
3Since life teaches you that it isn’t easy to be great,
4And you’re probably not going to make it,
5And so maybe they didn’t really make it either,
6And were really like the rest of us instead,
7aExcept maybe they had a better press agent or something.
8Only, I’ve been thinking about Lincoln a lot,
9Ever since they put me in here,
10And I keep seeing this picture of him in my head,
11bWhich maybe has to do with all the pills they give me,
12Because I see other things I shouldn’t too,
13Which kind of scares me,
14And so I think about Lincoln instead,
15With his beard,
16And his ugly beat-up face,
17And those eyes.
