Chapter 25
Losing the war was a bitter disappointment to the Nips,
rNot to mention how they felt about losing the Greater Japanese Co-Prosperity Sphere,
But when you’re the only completely civilized nation on earth,
You know how to handle disappointments,
Which is why, when the Yanks landed to occupy Japan,
They were met by a bunch of smiling, nodding, peace-loving Nips,
Who would never hurt a fly.
And in all the time since then, they have never stopped smiling and nodding.
They smiled and nodded when sMacArthur became the military governor of their nation.
tThey smiled and nodded when he wrote them a democratic constitution that made it illegal for them to wage war ever again for any reason.
uThey smiled and nodded when MacArthur gave women the vote.
They smiled and nodded when the Yanks aexecuted some of their military leaders for war crimes.
bAnd they smiled and nodded even more when the Yanks gave them a whole bunch of money to rebuild their factories,
And their cities,
And their whole nation.
