THE BOOK OF
GREEKS
OTHERWISE KNOWN AS THE FIRST BOOK OF GREEKS
Underworld comings and goingsGreeks able to believe anything
Chapter 8
They believed that lots of Greek men grew up to be vheroes,
Who had to go out on great quests,
wAnd do impossible things,
In spite of all the xweird women they ran into,
Like yJason,
Who went looking for something called the zGolden Fleece,
And ran into somebody named aaMedea,
Who liked to cut children up, into little pieces and throw them into the sea,
Which helped Jason get away with the Golden Fleece,
Somehow.
And there was also aPerseus,
Who went looking for a weird woman named bMedusa,
Because he needed her head,
cFor some reason,
dWhich was okay because she had snakes for hair,
And used to turn men into stone by looking at them,
Until Perseus gave her a mirror,
eAnd cut off her head while she was trying to fix her hair,
Thus explaining why Perseus is one of the greatest of all Greek heroes.
And then there was fBellphone,
Who happened to be hanging around when Perseus cut off Medusa’s head,
Which is how he met gPegasus the flying horse,
Who flew right out of a puddle of Medusa’s blood,
Somehow,
And made hBellphone into another great myth,
Because he had a magic bridle,
iWhich he got from some other weird jwoman,
he way Greek heroes always do,
And rode Pegasus all over the place,
Which the Greeks thought was great,
kBecause they had a thing about lhorses,
mNot to mention a thing about wings,
Which is why it’s so special when you can have both in the same myth.
