GIANTS Chapter 4

The Classics stir things upGalileo gets into trouble
Chapter 4
The fClassics caused pretty much of a stir when the Giants rediscovered them,
gBecause it looked like the ancient Greeks and Romans had invented an almost unlimited number of ways to have fun,
hWhat with both of them having invented comedy and all,
As well as all that other stuff.
And so the Giants decided to try it all out,
Just for ifun,
And to have something to do while the naked ladies were eating,
jWhich, to tell the truth, was quite a lot of the time.
Some of the Giants thought it would be fun to try science,
kEspecially anatomy,
Which was on everyone’s mind,
lFor some reason.
Other Giants thought it would be fun to try writing comedy and tragedy and poetry,
Since about the only kind of writing anyone had done lately,
Say, for the last thousand years,
Was recopying the mBible and making up the nLives of the Saints,
Which wasn’t very exciting,
oFor some reason.
Some of the other Giants thought it would be fun to try pphilosophy,
Which means “love of knowledge” and was a wide-open field,
qSince no one had any knowledge at all about anything,
Unless you count the church,
rWhich, according to the priests, knew everything,
sBut was keeping its mouth shut.
And some of the Giants thought that thistory might be fun,
But they couldn’t tell for sure,
uBecause nothing had happened for quite a while,
Unless you count vDark Ages,
Which somehow don’t seem quite as interesting as naked ladies.
