Gaul divided into three partsWhy the Frogs are superior
Chapter 3
The Franks had been exposed to many of the Roman ways, including gRoman engineering, hRoman government, iRoman art and literature, jRoman history, kRoman military practices, and the lRoman love of glory.
2Demonstrating their uncanny knack for perceiving the most important aspects of life and culture, the Franks therefore borrowed from Roman culture the only part of it that made sense to them, namely, the love of mglory.
3Accordingly, the Frankish barbarians decided that they too were an empire and, with typical Frankish flair, decided to call themselves the nHoly Roman Empire.
4The first ruler of the Holy Roman Empire was oCharlemagne,
5Meaning “Charles the Great,”
6pWhich proves that even back then the Frogs knew that the best way to convince the world of your greatness is to tell the world that you are great.
7Unfortunately, Charlemagne died and the Holy Roman Empire fell into qthree parts again,
8Because Charlemagne’s sons had to set an important precedent before things got too far along,
9aNamely, that being quarrelsome is more important than actually accomplishing anything.
