There was a brilliant Frog named wTalleyrand, who was a minister to Louis the Sixteenth until they cut Louis’s head off,
2And who was then a minister to Napoleon until they exiled the ex-emperor to St. Helena,
3And who went on to be a minister to xLouis the Eighteenth when the divine right of Louis’s was reinstated.
4It was Talleyrand who played a big part in establishing the Frog foreign policy that sold almost a ythird of North America to the United States for a few million dollars.
5This shrewd maneuver, along with the loss to the English of aFrance’s Canadian colonies, just about finished off France’s last chance to be Chosen Nation.
6Still, faced with about a hundred years to kill before the Americans became the Chosen Nation of the western hemisphere, bthe Frogs mounted a number of silly attempts to regain their lost glory.
