For those of you who haven’t been paying attention for the past few years,
2dThe Trinity of Harry is Desire, Certainty, and Blame,
3And most of you have had some experience of it by now,
4Whether you recognized it at the time or not,
5eBecause your fellow Americans have a strong desire to blame you,
6fIn no uncertain terms,
7For a lot of things.
8gFor example, they blame you and every soldier who ever lived for the fact that Mankind is sitting on the very edge of the abyss,
9hOne stupid mistake away from nuclear annihilation,
10Which is bound to happen sooner or later,
11iBecause there are people called generals,
12Who always want to solve every problem by loading the biggest gun they can find,
13With the biggest, most lethal bullets they can buy,
14And fire a few million rounds at the enemy,
15Before anyone wastes any more time on pointless chitchat.
16jAnd it’s not that your fellow Americans think this is your fault in any personal way exactly,
17Because they don’t really think about it at all.
18kIt’s just that when they see you in your uniforms,
19It reminds them that there are generals,
20And nuclear weapons,
21lAnd a gigantic enemy that also has nuclear weapons,
22And mgenerals,
23And cannon fodder of their own,
24Just like you.
