OF THE ULTRA-HARRIERS

Lucky talks back to Harry
Chapter 3
Like I said, we were at this restaurant in Philadelphia,
aAnd we had a private upstairs room all to ourselves,
Because there were a bunch of us,
bIncluding Joe, and Sam, and Tom, and Mort, and Tony, and Ned, and Ira, and Jerry, and Fred, and Vinnie, and Lucky.
And it was cLucky who first started talking back to Harry,
On the phone,
Saying, d“Why should we hit the road and take up a lot of our precious time doing stuff for you,
e“When we could go do whatever we felt like doing instead,
“Whenever we felt like it?”
And when Lucky had said these things, Harry asked to talk to each of us,
In turn,
And we all told him pretty much the same thing,
Which was that it had been great knowing him,
And we really enjoyed all those fgreat times on the Learjet,
Not to mention Malibu and Miami and Acapulco and so forth,
hBut it was time to move on,
Because iSam was going to law school,
And jTom was going to medical school,
And kVinnie was going to start a rock and roll band,
And lMort wanted to be a network anchorman,
And mNed was going to be a big-time corporate executive,
And nJerry was going into politics,
And oIra wanted to make blockbuster movies,
And pTony had it all worked out how he was going to be a college professor,
And qJoe had this driving ambition to be an evangelist,
And I, rWillie, was planning to be a writer,
And sLucky had some plans, although he didn’t talk about them much,
And only tFred didn’t have any idea at all what he wanted to do, except that he was sick and tired of being on the road,
Which meant that nobody was willing to do any running around for Harry,
And besides, what did he care anyway,
uBeing so nicely set up for life in Rio,
vWhere the girls wear those amazing bathing suits that are hardly there at all?
