2I know you must be thinking that your show might have survived if you had called it ‘I Love Ed,’
3And if you had left ome out of it altogether,
4And had given yourself a nice family instead,
5pWith a nice white house in the suburbs,
6And it is true that there will be hundreds and hundreds of great shows like this,
7Including ‘I Love Patty Puke,’
8And ‘I Love Gadget,’
9And ‘I Love My Three or Four Sons,’
10And ‘I Love My Son of a Bachelor Father,’
11And ‘I Love Izzie and Henrietta and Chip and Dale and All Their Dumb Neighbors,’
12qNot to mention ‘I Love Lucky Even Without Dizzy,’
13aWhich will all be as clever and original as they come.
14But if you think that a comedy show can’t succeed unless it’s about a not very funny family that’s completely average in every respect,
15You’d just be kidding yourself,
16Because there will be other clever and original comedy shows that feature stars who aren’t completely average,
17bAnd are much more like me instead,
18And they will succeed,
19Spectacularly,
20Unlike yours.
