DAVE Chapter 27

Jimmy Stewart doesn’t jump off a bridge
Chapter 27
Of course, sometimes life is every bit as bad as it looks,
2kWhich is why some directors will make movies about how bad life can be,
3To show everybody that the capitalist system doesn’t work that well for everybody,
4lFor example, all the poor rural people who had to eat dirt and old sawdust in the depression,
5Like mHenry Fonda will do in a movie called ‘The Grapes of Tobacco Road,’
6Which won’t have any grapes in it,
7But a whole bunch of suffering instead,
8By a whole bunch of noble Okies,
9Including Henry and his parents nMa and Pa Kettle,
10oWho have to go to California because their home state blew away in a dust storm,
11Which was one of the bad things pHerbert Hoover did to cause the Great Depression,
12And which everybody will come to know about,
13Because of Henry’s terribly moving performance,
14Which would just break your heart,
15qIf only you could understand his ridiculous white trash accent.
