BRITS Chapter 47

OTHERWISE KNOWN AS THE BOOK OF THE WHITE MAN’S BURDEN

The Brits tolerate provincial writersThe hard way vs. the big way
Chapter 47
And then there was the peculiar Brit cultural obsession with something called “sport,”
2Which always involved lots of oddly dressed Brits doing asomething incomprehensible on a playing field,
3And never getting upset when they lost,
4Whether they lost at bcricket,
5Or crugby,
6Or dfootball,
7Or epolo,
8Or fgolf,
9Or anything else,
10Except wars, of course,
11gBecause Brits never lose wars,
12Which maybe explains why they were always such a good sport in any contest where world dominion wasn’t on the line,
13hAnd maybe also explains why nobody else has ever understood the Brit definition of fair play,
14Since it seems to occur only when there are no foreigners on the field,
15In games that nobody but Brits want to play.
