The A-bomb is just teasing
Chapter 6
I don’t mean to tease you (said the bomb), but it’s just that you’re so serious about all of this.
I apologize if I upset you.
The truth is, I have some very good news for you.
Mankind will not be annihilated by nuclear weapons,
Because he will become wise,
At last,
And recognize that the day has finally come when no victory is worth the price of war,
And no consequence is worse than the death of the entire planet.
Yes, in spite of his thousand generations of dselfishness,
And egreed,
And flust for power,
And gdelight in the misfortunes of others,
And his hunquenchable thirst for vengeance,
And his iblood-drenched perversion of every pacific philosophy ever devised,
And his jundying hatred of everyone and everything that is different in the smallest way from himself,
In spite of all these things,
kMankind will suddenly rise up and unite in a spirit of true brotherly love to banish war from the earth.
Forever,
lAnd on that day, the dove will carry an olive branch to the place where the lion is lying down with the lion, and the peoples of the world will come to see them,
And marvel at the mbeauty they have created.
nSure they will.
And with these words, the image of the bomb vanished away, leaving Al alone and sweating on his bed.
