Chapter 26
As it happens, all these titles won’t go over very well in America,
nBecause the people who work in factories came to America in the first place to get away from lords and nobles,
oSince lords and nobles always seem to think they own people,
And can do with them what they like,
pBecause they don’t have any rights of their own,
qUnless you live in America, where everybody has rights,
And where they don’t allow citizens to have titles,
Or own people,
rAt least not anymore,
Which suggests that maybe there’s something going on that shouldn’t be going on,
aAnd maybe it’s about time someone demoted the generals and barons,
So that they’d treat people a little more decently,
bAnd pay them better,
cAnd care a little more about safety,
dAnd cut back a little on the twenty- or thirty-hour workdays,
And doesn’t that seem reasonable,
O you generals and barons?
