ADAM Chapter 15

Factory workers not completely happyRunning away to America
Chapter 15
On the other hand, there will also be pthinkers who will think that capitalism is a tremendous opportunity for poor people,
2Because where else can you compete with your fellow man on an equal footing,
3Which is what the market lets you do,
4Since if you make a product people want, they will buy it even if you aren’t a lord or a gentleman or some intellectual highbrow,
5Or even a Scot,
6Which means that capitalism gives everybody equal opportunity,
7To make money, that is,
8Theoretically anyway,
9qUnless they don’t have any capital to start with,
10rOr any education,
11sOr any free time to spend on business deals.
12aBut no system is ever completely perfect,
13bAnd if the factory workers don’t like the way things are in the Most Chosen Capitalist Nation on Earth,
14They can always go someplace else,
15cSomeplace where they don’t have any lords or gentlemen or highbrow intellectuals,
16Like America.
